Love burgundy for fall... 🍁🍂 After a busy year focusing on @doctorcontour.clinic with 100% dedication to aesthetic medicine and my work as an aesthetic doctor, I decided it was time to bring back some fashion blogging on the side as a hobby. That’s why I’ve created an ‘intermezzo blog post’ where I’m sharing 5 fall outfits I’ll wear this autumn! 👗

For those who don’t know, I’ve been fashion blogging since 2017, alongside my life as a medical student.👩‍⚕️Lately, it’s been on my mind a lot, especially as I’ve been so focused on my career as an aesthetic doctor. At first, I thought I’d stop fashion altogether because I worried people wouldn’t take me seriously as a doctor (oh, the prejudices…), but now I’ve decided to just be authentically myself—that’s what makes me happiest! 😃

Most of my patients know I’m extremely dedicated to aesthetic medicine💉 and that it’s something I’m busy with almost 24/7, but I’ve also decided it doesn’t have to be my only identity. I’ll always be the ‘aesthetic doctor and fashionista in one,’ whenever I have the time and feel inspired, of course 🙃😉

🇳🇱Ik was uitgenodigd voor de eerste editie van @thebb.event afgelopen vrijdag in Rotterdam, een bijeenkomst waar gedreven vrouwen samenkomen om elkaar te inspireren en te versterken. 💪 Het was een dag vol krachtige talks van bijzondere vrouwen die hun ervaringen en inzichten deelden. ✨

🇬🇧I was invited to the first edition of @thebb.event last Friday in Rotterdam, a gathering where driven women come together to inspire and empower each other. 💪 It was a day filled with powerful talks from remarkable women sharing their experiences and insights.✨

🇳🇱Heb je al gehoord van de term ‘collagen banking’? Collageen is het eiwit dat onze huid stevig, elastisch en jong houdt. Vanaf je midden twintiger jaren verlies je jaarlijks ongeveer 1% collageen. Dit proces versnelt tijdens de menopauze, waarbij vrouwen in de eerste vijf jaar tot wel 30% van hun collageen kunnen verliezen. Door vroeg te starten met behandelingen die de collageenproductie stimuleren, bouw je een reserve op die je huid later ondersteunt en helpt om tekenen van veroudering te vertragen. Zie het als een spaarrekening voor je huid, waarin je nu investeert zodat je huid er later stralend uitziet. 🌿

Aging of the Oval Face and Treatment Options💉 
➡️ This is the face shape that is universally recognized as the most beautiful due to its good proportions and symmetry, as this face shape is very proportional in both the upper, middle, and lower parts of the face. Examples of celebrities with an oval face include Jessica Alba, Emma Roberts, Bella Hadid, and Cindy Crawford.
As it ages, the oval face can become square as the skin and fat from the mid-face sag and accumulate in the lower part of the face, which can lead to sagging and loss of facial contour. If we want to rejuvenate the face, we need to add extra volume through fillers in the mid and lateral cheeks, the area in front of the ear (the preauricular areas), and the temples to prevent sagging. We can also treat the jawline and chin to give more definition.

➡️ Dit is het gezichtstype dat universeel erkend wordt als het mooiste vanwege zijn goede verhoudingen en symmetrie, aangezien dit gezichtstype zeer evenredig is in zowel het bovenste, middelste als onderste deel van het gezicht.
Voorbeelden van beroemdheden met een ovaal gezicht zijn Jessica Alba, Emma Roberts, Bella Hadid en Cindy Crawford.
Naarmate het ouder wordt, kan het ovale gezicht vierkant worden doordat de huid en vet van het middengezicht gaan hangen en zich ophopen in het onderste deel van het gezicht, wat kan leiden tot verslapping en verlies van gezichtscontour.

Cosmetische ingrepen: te genormaliseerd of juist nog taboe? 💉🤔 Cosmetic procedures: overly normalized or still taboo? 🤔💉(ENGLISH TEXT BELOW) 
In 2024 zijn cosmetische ingrepen veel meer genormaliseerd dan pakweg 15 jaar geleden. Toch rust er in België nog een zwaar taboe op. Dit merk ik vaak in mijn praktijk. Veel patiënten verbergen hun mooie, natuurlijk ogende resultaten voor hun omgeving en zelfs hun partner, uit angst voor hun oordeel. Er zijn mensen die agressief reageren op cosmetische ingrepen, zelfs als deze niet-invasief zijn, zoals injectables.

Als esthetisch arts is het niet mijn doel om cosmetische ingrepen te normaliseren alsof iedereen dit moet doen, maar wel om het taboe te verminderen. Mensen moeten kunnen kiezen wat ze doen met hun gezicht of lichaam zonder angst voor veroordelingen. 
Mensen worden niet gemakkelijk veroordeeld voor het verven van hun haar of het bleken van hun tanden, maar wel voor omkeerbare ingrepen zoals fillers. Weet dat de meeste cosmetische ingrepen er natuurlijk uitzien als ze worden uitgevoerd door een goede arts. 👩‍⚕️🌟

In 2024, cosmetic procedures are much more common than they were 15 years ago. However, in Belgium, there’s still a strong taboo around them. I often see this in my practice. Many patients hide their beautiful, natural-looking results from their friends and even their partners because they fear being judged. Some people react very negatively to cosmetic procedures, even if they are non-invasive, like injectables.

As an aesthetic physician, my goal is not to make everyone feel like they should get cosmetic procedures but to reduce the stigma around them. People should be able to choose what they do with their face or body without fear of judgment.

For example, dyeing hair or whitening teeth is generally accepted, but reversible procedures like fillers often aren’t. It’s important to know that most cosmetic procedures look natural when done by a skilled doctor.

Het is belangrijk om te weten dat alle nafoto’s direct na de injectie zijn gemaakt.  De lippen zijn na de injectie altijd nog een beetje gezwollen. De grootste zwelling is aanwezig in de eerste 48 uur na de injectie en neemt daarna geleidelijk af.
Na ongeveer twee weken zie je het uiteindelijke resultaat!

Ondanks het gebruik van objectieve en universele maten (zoals de gulden snede) om patiënten op een natuurlijk uitziende manier er stralender uit te laten zien, respecteren we altijd de unieke en individuele schoonheid en de aspecten die een gezicht uniek maken. ✨

Doctor Contour Clinic streeft ernaar om mensen op een gebalanceerde en harmonieuze manier stralender te laten voelen, zonder de unieke kenmerken van het gezicht te verwijderen.
